VARMINT DETERRENT
VARMINT DETERRENT is a reusable mechanical signalling and deterrent device designed to provide an audible warning when a tripwire is disturbed.
The device requires no electricity or batteries and is intended for outdoor use.
Purpose
VARMINT DETERRENT is designed as an additional means of helping to deter stray and wild animals from entering or moving through a monitored area.
One or more devices can be installed along the boundary or within the area to be monitored and connected to a tripwire or visible tape installed by the user.
When the tripwire is pulled or disturbed, the mechanism is activated and produces a loud bang. The audible signal indicates that the tripwire has been disturbed and may also deter animals from continuing further into the monitored area.
The device operates entirely mechanically and requires no external power source.
Applications
VARMINT DETERRENT can be used as an additional measure, for example:
- along property boundaries, where appropriate and agreed with neighbouring property owners;
- around gardens, fields or other defined areas;
- as an addition to fences and enclosures;
- in locations where stray or wild animals may enter;
- for detecting disturbance of a monitored perimeter.

Installation and use
VARMINT DETERRENT is attached to a post, tree, rock or another stable object and connected to a tripwire or visible tape installed by the user.
The installation should be clearly visible where appropriate, and the device must be positioned so that its operation does not create an unnecessary risk to people, animals or property.
Use only 9 × 17 mm blank cartridges specified for the device.
The device must be installed and used in accordance with the user instructions, applicable legislation and relevant safety requirements.
